the special olympics

last saturday we got to
and it was SO. MUCH. FUN.
just a few of our 4charity lovelies and a couple of the 4charity husbands were able to go on this one and since it was a ways away we all carpooled, got some drinks and treats and had a mini road trip!
we arrived at our assigned location and were given our volunteer assignments.
we all got the same assignment - to cheer!
yep. thats right. we got to stand on the sidelines, watch the snowshoeing event and cheer on every athlete. best job ever, and we loved every second of it.
an annonymous person made a WHOLE bunch of these
red and blue scarves and donated them to the event to give
to all the volunteers. what a sweetie! thank you.

we were the best cheerers we could be.
{sometimes robbie prefers to wear scarves as belts}

we got lots of high fives.

the awards ceremony was maybe the best part. the smiles went from ear to ear,
and we couldn't help but smile ear to ear too.

this is us and some of our new friends after the awards ceremony.
we got the chance to meet lots of the athletes, congratulate them on their medals
and hear all about how exciting it all was.

this is our new friend justin. he and his brothers, blake and cole,
have been helping run the special olympics here for the past 10 years. such good
guys! he told us about how it works, what they do, what it means to the
athletes and we're 100% sold on wanting to be part of it again. thanks justin!

we all left with huge smiles on our faces and warm feelings in our hearts.
it was just a fabulous, uplifting, fun day.
the special olympics always needs more help, more volunteers and just more people to cheer.
if you're ever looking for a really fun activity, grab some friends and go help at the special olympics-
for more info on how to volunteer
you'll be so glad you did.
