our night at the Ronald Mcdonald House

remember when we told you about this plan for february? well last night was the night we got to do it.
and it was amazing and so worthwhile and we'd love to do it again.

a BIG HUGE thank you to each of you who sent all these items from the wish list.

first, we prepared dinner.

then while our sandwiches were baking we were able to take a little tour of the facilities.
this is marciala. she's the volunteer at the RMH who gave us the tour.
thank you marciala!
families who have stayed at the RMH send pictures and cards with updates and thank you's and this is where they hang them.
she showed us the downstairs with pool tables and laundry machines {they even have detergent available too} and there's a play room for kids.
they decorated the house to make it colorful and feel comfortable, like a home!
then the families came for dinner and this was the best part!

this sweet girl is sammy. she recently had a kidney transplant. she was darling and funny and we got to meet her mom and sister and brother. they've been at the RMH since december, and because of the RMH they've all been able to stay together and stay with sammy. she's a very brave girl and we were also able to give her a special quilt, thanks to some special moms {that we'll tell you all about tomorrow!}

this cute little man has a 3 year old sister in the hospital, so he and his grandparents and parents have been staying at the RMH waiting for big sister to be ready to go home, hopefully soon!

this beautiful girl is megan. and wow, she's one tough little lady. she's been through quite a lot and she was as sweet as could be and positive and delightful.  she's currently recovering from a heart transplant.
she told us that her plan is to go into medicine herself and she explained to us all the things she'd like to do to make sure her patients are well taken care of and get the treatment they need.

we felt very fortunate to be able to meet such special, new friends. we're so thankful to all the sweet families that opened up to us and shared their stories. their strength and hope and smiles are inspiring.
the night was a big reminder for us to be thankful for the little things.

the Ronald Mcdonald House serves such an important purpose for these families and we got to see it first hand.
it was a special experience.

if you would like to participate in the RMH's adopt a meal program, please call:
