february's charity:

our very own lizzie b. has taken on the task of planning our project for this month, and this is the organization she has chosen! i'm very excited because although i've of course heard of the 'ronald mcdonald house' i've never been exactly sure what they do or who they serve, and after learning more about them, let me tell you - they do a lot!
here's a little info from their website for you:

Few medical crises are more devastating or frightening than a child with a life-threatening disease or an unexpected injury or illness. Few situations place greater stress on parents and families. And while tremendous advances have been made in treating seriously ill children, the families' financial and emotional burdens remain. The Ronald McDonald House was created to help ease some of these burdens and is the only charity of its kind in our region.
Without Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area, many families would have nowhere to turn. The Salt Lake Ronald McDonald House is the cornerstone of our organization, providing a home-away-from-home for more than 1,800 families annually while their children are being treated at Primary Children's Medical Center, Shiner's Hospital, University of Utah Medical Center or LDS Hospital

This is the house
Where families meet
To continue their lives,
To eat and sleep,
To find their strengths
And dry their tears,
To look forward with hope
To better years.
This is the house
That becomes their home.
This is the home
That love built.

this is a cause that hits particularly close to home for a couple of our very own team members who have children of their own with illness that have required them to spend countless hours at hospitals and dr. 's offices. they understand completely the strain and demands that these kinds of difficult situations can place on a family and the importance of an organization like this.
on february 29th some of our team gets to go into the 'ronald mcdonald house' and prepare and serve dinner to the families there. we're so excited for this opportunity and we can't wait to share all about the experience with you.
for more information on the 'ronald mcdonald house' please visit their website here.

hope you're having a lovely week, the 4 charity team.
